Basic Needs and Emma's Place

MCDC

We distribute food, clothing, school supplies, personal care items and household supplies, and provide emergency assistance to families. We attend a regular food drive to collect groceries for populations served. Last year, we were awarded a small grant through the Community Foundation of the National Capital region’s Neighbors in Need fund to support this program. The Basic Needs program partners with World Vision, D.C. Storehouse and Gifts-in-Kind program, and the Capital Area Food Bank. In addition, we just completed a six-week Eating Right course in cooking and nutrition in partnership with the Bethel World Outreach Church Center for Health and Wholeness and the Capital Area Food Bank Operation Frontline program, which is a national program operating in twenty-five cities. A professional chef and nutritionist led sixteen participants in the course.
